Is the epitope of this antibody extracellular?

Thank you for your question. PECAM-1 Antibody (JC70): sc-53411 is raised against spleen of human origin. The exact epitope recognized by this mouse monoclonal antibody has not been determined, thus we do not know if it is extracellular or intracellular.

Can PECAM-1 (JC70): sc-53411 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, PECAM-1 (JC70): sc-53411 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Antibody for human blood vessels detectionThis antibody works perfectly to detect human CD31 in immunofluorescence on fixed frozen section. It gives little to none cross-reaction to mouse-origin vessels. Dilution 1:100 / incubation over night at 4°C.

Our lab use this antibody to verify the phenotype of endothelial cells that we isolate ourselves from human aortic specimens. We incubate PFA-fixed cells with the primary antibody overnight at 4C (dilution 1/100) and obtain the expected staining pattern with fluorescence at the plasma membrane.
