WFDC3, or WAP four-disulfide core domain 3, is a member of the WFDC domain-containing protein family, which is characterized by the presence of a WAP-type 'four-disulfide core' (WFDC) domain. This motif involves eight cysteine residues connected via four disulfide bonds, contributing to a stable structure that can endure the protease-rich environments of extracellular fluids and secretions.The WFDC3 protein is encoded by the WFDC3 gene. While the specific biological functions of WFDC3 remain largely uncharacterized, the protein's structural features suggest potential roles in protease inhibition and defense mechanisms at epithelial surfaces, similar to other members of the WAP-type protein family.

Proteins containing WFDC domains are often involved in host defense systems and are known to possess antimicrobial, antiprotease, and immunomodulatory properties.
