Why are two bands obtained in the western blot? is it nonspecific?

Thank you for your question. These bands are not unspcific signals. Rad51 has four described isoforms of different molecular weights (37 kDa, 26 kDa, 31 kDa, and 36 kDa, respectively). When different isoforms are present in a given sample, the antibody will detect multiple specific bands.

Which is the epitope recognized by this antibody?

Thank you for your question. Rad51 Antibody (3C10): sc-53428 was raised against full length recombinant human RAD51 protein. So far, no epitope mapping has been performed for this antibody, so its exact epitope is not yet known.

I am using the LiCor/Odyssey system. Which secondary antibody do you recommend using with Rad51 Antibody (3C10): sc-53428?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for WB in the mouse samplesI got the free sample and tested in WB using lysates from mouse brains and mouse cell line N2A. The antibody gives strong signals with generally clean background. and I have ordered this antibody for the future use. Generally, I loaded 15 μg protein for each sample and used 1:1000 antibody dilution in 5% BSA/TBST for the membrane incubation. For the signal detection, I used pico PLUS ECL from Thermo fisher to develop the signals and detected using X-ray films.
