Dear Sir/Madam Can you please indicate the main differences between sc-53004 and sc-53005, please? Apart from IgG isotype I find no other distinct feature... Thank you very much

Thank you very much for your question. Both mentioned monoclonal antibodies were raised against isolated M13 phage coat proteins and both are recommended for detection of M13 by WB, IF and FCM. Apart from the isoptype there is no differences in the main characteristics. sc-53005 seems to be less suitable for IP applications. Currently, the sc-53004 seems to be the more popular antibody and we already show 1 product citation for this clone.

Can you tell me whether this is the same clone as the discontinued GE monoclonal (Cat. # 27-9421-01)? The GE mAb has an unfortunate cross-reaction in one of my assays, so I need to find another one that hopefully will not have this problem.

Thank you for your question. GE's website does not describe a specific clone designation for their now discontinued antibody, so it is unclear which specific clone they were offering. They also do not mention a specific isotype. Therefore it appears that this is not the same antibody that we are providing. 1- Is the HRP-RL-ph1 conjugate provided as a lyophilized powder? 2- What is the recommended working dilution for ELISA? Thanks

Thank you for your question. We do not provide any of our antibodies as a lyophilized powder. This antibody, M13 Major Coat Protein (RL-ph1): sc-53004, is available directly conjugated to HRP (catalog number, sc-53004 HRP) and is provided as 200 µg in 1 mL PBS, gelatin-azide buffer. We do not have a specific recommended working dilution for using the HRP conjugated antibody in ELISA. We would recommend a starting dilution of 1:50, and to serially dilute the antibody to determine the optimal ratio of antigen to antibody.

Can M13 Major Coat Protein (RL-ph1): sc-53004 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, M13 Major Coat Protein (RL-ph1): sc-53004 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good performanceWe were used to using the anti-M13 HRP from GE but it was discontinued, looking for a new brand that would work for ELISA, we received a free unconjugated sample of the anti-M13 from Santa Cruz and we tested it at a dilution of 1: 5000 in 1% BSA -1x PBS. The antibody works well, without background noise. Dilution is appropriate for many ELISA tests and could be optimized.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Suitable replacement for GE product.I was looking to replace the discontinued GE anti-M13 HRP (cat# 27-9421-01). Received a free sample of this unconjugated version and tried it at 1:5000 as with GE, and detected with anti-mouse HRP. Results were comparable, although the GE antibody is supplied 5x more dilute. Will be ordering the HRP conjugated version to compare.
