Has this antibody been used in Drosophila?

Thank you for your question. Calnexin (AF18) has not been validated for Drosophila. Drosophila has a 50% homology. We only recommend a specie if the homology is 95% or higher.

Is this probing the N- or C-terminus of Calnexin?

Thank you for your question. No epitope mapping has been performed for Calnexin Antibody (AF18): sc-23954, so this antibody's epitope region is not known. For an N-terminal Calnexin antibody, check out Calnexin Antibody (E-10): sc-46669 (epitope region corresponding to amino acids 1-70) or see Calnexin Antibody (TO-5): sc-80645 for a C-terminally binding option (epitope region 529-544).

I am looking for an antibody that could serve as a negative control for exosomal markers in WB. Some papers have recommended Calnexin as one. I have a podocyte cell lysate as a positive cont for calnexin. Will AF18 be suitable?

Thank you for your question. We have not evaluated this antibody in a similar research application. This mouse monoclonal antibody, Calnexin (AF18): sc-23954, is specific for the detection of Calnexin in mouse, rat and human samples, and it is suitable for Western blotting. We have excellent data in a variety of whole cell lysates that we would recommend using as a positive control with this antibody.

Can you recommend a positive control to use with Calnexin Antibody (AF18): sc-23954 for Western blot?

We recommend A-431: sc-2201, Jurkat: sc-2204 or K-562: sc-2203 or HeLa: sc-2200 whole cell lysates to use as positive controls as we have great Western blot data showing specific detection of Calnexin in these cell lines.
