Trimethylsilyl cyclopentadiene reacts with ruthenium trichloride in alcohol solvent to yield ruthenocene. It is reactant involved in Diels-Alder reactions, synthesis of ring-functionalized molybdenocene complexes, allyl isomerization, aromatization of C5 rings and synthesis of N-hydroxyindoles via nucleophilic addition.
